The police discovered fewer hemp farms in 2018 than in the previous year. In 2017, 4670 hemp farms were dismantled compared to 2913 times in 2018. Only in the Northern Netherlands can an increase be seen.

There, the number of dismantled nurseries increased from 404 in 2017 to 436 a year later. According to John Jespers, hemp coordinator at the police, that increase is related to the arrival of a special hemp team at the police stationed in the Northern Netherlands.

Most nurseries were dismantled in 2018 in the Zeeland-West-Brabant, Limburg, East-Netherlands and Rotterdam region police regions. The least in East Brabant and around Amsterdam.

'Decrease in the number of reports with Meld Misdaad Anonymous'

In general, according to Jespers, the number of rolled up nurseries has been declining for years. This is probably due to the priorities of the local triangles (mayor, police and Public Prosecution Service), which use the available police capacity for other matters.

But there is also a decrease in the number of reports by Meld Misdaad Anoniem: 21 percent fewer reports in 2018 compared to a year earlier, leaving the counter at 4529.
