Coptis chinensis, a national second-level key protected wild plant, was discovered in Saiwudang, Hubei. Coptis chinensis is one of the commonly used and famous traditional Chinese medicinal materials in China.

It is included in the previous editions of the Chinese Pharmacopoeia. The reserve will improve the three-level management and protection system of global, station and point, build a "sky, air and ground" information supervision platform, and consolidate the protection of biodiversity in the reserve.
