The purchase price of cocoa from farmers in Côte d'Ivoire was set at 1,500 CFA francs (2.3 euros) per kilo for the intermediate harvest. This is a record increase of 50%, while prices are soaring, the Minister of Agriculture announced on Tuesday.

Ivory Coast sells its cocoa beans in advance and the purchase price is set by the State. It is thus less sensitive to market fluctuations - upwards and downwards - than in other countries such as Cameroon.
