On July 29, the Information Office of the State Council held a press conference to introduce the achievements of persons with disabilities in an all-round well-off society and the main arrangements for work for persons with disabilities during the 14th Five-Year Plan.
Zhang Haidi, deputy director of the Disabled Workers Committee of the State Council and chairman of the China Disabled Persons’ Federation, said that during the "13th Five-Year Plan" period, the disabled people’s federations at all levels have made every effort to push disabled people out of poverty to a well-off society, and now they have achieved their set goals.
More than 7.1 million registered and registered poor disabled persons have been lifted out of poverty. More than 11.8 million disabled persons have been included in special assistance and support and minimum living allowances. Living allowances for the disabled and severely disabled persons have benefited more than 26 million disabled persons.
