At the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant in southeastern Ukraine, which is controlled by the Russian military, a series of shelling has damaged some facilities, raising concerns that it could lead to a serious accident.



In order to ensure the safety of the nuclear power plant, a team of experts led by IAEA Director General Grossi entered the site on the 1st and confirmed the damage to the nuclear power plant facilities.

After the investigation, Director-General Grossi told reporters, "I was able to see the important things that I wanted to confirm. The most important thing is that IAEA experts are stationed at the nuclear power plant." I reiterated the idea that it is necessary for the staff to be stationed and grasp the situation.



Regarding the schedule of the investigation, Ukrainian nuclear power company "Energoatom" said it was scheduled to be until the 3rd, but Secretary General Grossi showed the prospect that it would be done until the 4th or 5th.



Director General Grossi and some IAEA experts have already left the nuclear power plant, but according to local pro-Russian officials, the remaining IAEA experts have been investigating for two days.



On the other hand, Ukrainian President Zelensky said on the 1st that ``the important thing is the demilitarization of nuclear power plants,'' and reiterated the importance of transferring nuclear power plants completely under Ukraine's control.
