Yesterday, Yusuf Mirza, the star of the cycling team, added a new bronze medal for the UAE in the activities of the Fifth Islamic Solidarity Games, which will be hosted by the Turkish city of Konya until the 18th of this month.

Mirza succeeded in clinching his second medal in the men's individual road race over a distance of 130 km, after achieving the gold points in the track competition, bringing the UAE's medal tally to seven colored medals, two gold, silver and two bronze, in addition to the two bronzes for the bow and arrow team for People of Determination.

The Iranian cyclist, Mohammad Ganjkhanlou, won the gold in first place, and the Algerian cyclist Youssef Raqiqi won the silver in second place.

In a press statement, Mirza confirmed the strength of the race and the challenge after the end of the track race, and said: “We ran both track and road competitions, with almost the same riders, and we wanted to increase the yield of medals, and the race ended in the same times for the first three places that were achieved, and the “photofinish” technique was referred to. », due to the difficulty of determining the three medals, which reflected the strength of the competition and the strength of the participants' performance.

On the other hand, weightlifter Ahmed Mostafa achieved good results in his participation in the 81 kg weight competition, achieving 225 kg in the overall total, after achieving 120 kg and 125 kg in the netter competition, while he achieved 95 kg and 100 kg in the snatch competition.

Weightlifter Sheikh Khalid Muntasir Al Qasimi finished the 67-kg weight competition with a remarkable result after breaking his record in lifts, an increase of 8 kg over his previous record in the Asian Youth Championships in Uzbekistan, where he achieved two successful attempts in the netter competition of 115 and 120 kg.

Weightlifter Sheikh Khalid Muntasir Al Qasimi performed outstandingly in the competition, despite being the second youngest player in the list of 13 participants from all countries.

Today, the swimming team will participate in the competitions of the Islamic Solidarity Games in Konya, through Mahra Al-Shehhi and Maha Al-Shehhi in the 100-meter freestyle race, and Salem Ghaleb in the 200-meter freestyle race, while Meera Al-Shehhi will participate in the 50-meter butterfly race, and the competitions will be held in the Olympic pool in Konya.

The shooting team will also complete its participation in the tournament through the skeet competition, in which we are represented by the duo Saif bin Fattis and Muhammad Hussein, and the weightlifter Mai Al-Madani concludes the participation of the weightlifting team in the course when she participates in a competition weighing 71 kg.

Engineer Azza bint Suleiman, Assistant Secretary-General for Administrative and Financial Affairs of the National Olympic Committee, met with Sheikh Jaber Thamer Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, member of the Board of Directors of the Kuwait Olympic Committee and head of the Kuwaiti delegation, on the sidelines of the session. The meeting was also attended by Fatima Hayat, member of the Board of Directors of the Kuwait Olympic Committee and director of the delegation.
