In the past few days, the Youxi Ancient Building Mural Exhibition has been continuously displayed at the Youxi County Museum. 113 photographic works of ancient building murals from all over Youxi tell the style of the "millennium ancient county".
Youxi has a long history and a prosperous cultural context, and is known as the "Millennium Ancient County" and "Pearl in Central Fujian".
According to Huang Chunlin, deputy director of Youxi County Museum, Youxi has a famous historical and cultural village in China - Guifeng Village, a national key cultural relics protection unit - Zheng's House in Yujingfang, 15 provincial cultural relics protection units and 29 sites. There are 90 points in 81 cultural relics protection units and 564 general immovable cultural relic points.

Huang Chunlin said that in recent years, Youxi Wenbo people have devoted themselves to a systematic census of cultural relics, and found that there are a large number of plane paintings and gray sculpture murals in many ancient buildings in Youxi townships.
In Youxi, there are murals on cornices, roof ridges, mountain flowers, Yugeng walls, and inner partition walls in many ancient buildings. Historical allusions, opera stories, celebrity anecdotes, auspicious animals and birds, flowers, birds, fish and insects, traditional patterns, etc. into the painting.
However, what is more amazing than the traditional skills of ancient buildings is the profound cultural connotation of ancient building murals.
"This is a painting of 'Fu' hidden in words. The original work hangs in the main hall of 'Yanling Hall' in Jingtong Village, Meixian Town. It is a huge 'Fu' of 4 square meters. It looks a bit 'fancy' from a distance. , the rich content of this character is amazing." Huang Chunlin said that between the words and pictures, the words "Fu Shou" and "Celebrate Qianqiu", prosperous people and many birthday gifts, perfectly interpret the ancients' yearning for "Fu".

Huang Chunlin said that there is a couplet on both sides of the word "Fu" imitating Zhu Xi's handwriting: "Do benevolent and righteous deeds, and be loyal and filial." This is the ancestor's warning to future generations.
Most of the ancient buildings in Jingtong Village were built in the period from Qianlong to Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty.
After wind and rain, some ancient buildings were dilapidated and almost collapsed.
In 2017, Wu Xixiao, a villager who started his own business abroad, couldn't bear to see these old houses with nostalgia disappear like this. He personally donated more than 900,000 yuan to repair them, so that the ancient buildings can be restored to their splendor.
In the same year, Jingtong Village was included in the list of the second batch of provincial traditional villages in Fujian Province, the intangible cultural heritage of Sanming City, and was also identified as the "Old House Rescue Demonstration Base" by Youxi County.
"These murals show Youxi's profound historical accumulation and cultural heritage, as well as the wisdom and emotion of our ancestors, and embody people's ultimate pursuit of a complete and harmonious life." Huang Chunlin revealed that the exhibition will continue until the end of May.
