It is known that President Yoon Seok-yeol has appointed Yoon Hee-geun, the deputy chief of the National Police Agency, as the new chief of the National Police Agency today (4th).

Nominee Yoon was born in Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province, and graduated from the National Police Academy in 1991 and was commissioned as a lieutenant.

Since then, he has served as the information manager of the Chungbuk National Police Agency, the information section 1 and 2 of the Seoul National Police Agency, and the information management manager of the Seoul National Police Agency, and is considered a representative 'informer' in the police.

After being promoted to the police chief in December 2021, Yoon served as the head of the National Police Agency's security bureau, and was promoted to the chief security officer in June after half a year.

Nominee Yoon is scheduled to attend the extraordinary meeting of the National Police Commission convened tomorrow (5th) at 11 am.

If the National Police Commission agrees to the proposal for appointment of nominee Yoon, the president will make the final appointment after going through a personnel hearing at the National Assembly on the recommendation of the Minister of the Interior and Safety.
