The Meteorological Administration announced that yellow dust originated in the Gobi Desert and the Inner Mongolia plateau in China.
Yellow dust begins to flow into Baengnyeongdo Island at 9 pm on the 21st and affects the central region from dawn on the 22nd, and there is a possibility that the concentration of fine dust (PM10) increases.
However, the Korea Meteorological Administration added that there is a possibility that concentrations and regions affecting Korea may change depending on the flow of air.
Yellow dust has been observed three times this year, once every February, April, and May in Seoul.
On this day, the National Institute of Environmental Sciences Air Quality Integrated Forecast Center predicted that the fine dust concentration on the 21st would be'good' to'normal' in all areas, but the metropolitan area and Chungcheong area temporarily'bad' in the morning.
On the 22nd, it was predicted that the entire area will be'normal', but the metropolitan area, Gangwon area, and Chungcheong area will temporarily show'bad' levels in the morning, and the Honam area, Yeongnam area, and Jeju area in the afternoon.
The center explained, "On the 22nd, foreign fine dust was introduced, so the concentration in the central region in the morning and the southern region in the afternoon will be somewhat high."
