Withdrawal of 17 non-conforming products from the state market within 8 months

The Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology revealed that the control campaigns that were implemented in the country's markets, from the beginning of this year until the end of last August, resulted in the withdrawal of 17 products from the market, due to considerations related to product safety.

The Assistant Undersecretary for the Specifications and Legislation Sector in the Ministry, Dr. Farah Ali Al-Zarouni, told "Emirates Today" that the withdrawn products included electrical products, food-contact packaging and packaging products, in addition to children's toys, and other goods for children, as well as cosmetics and personal care. .

Al-Zarouni added that the withdrawals were aimed at supporting the empowerment of the various industrial and commercial sectors, and enhancing the competitiveness of national industries by applying the best standards in production and manufacturing.

Al-Zarouni indicated that the withdrawal of the products that took place through 18 national control campaigns on the products in the market came as a result of their non-compliance with the approved standard specifications in force in the UAE, pointing out that the Ministry informed the competent regulatory authorities at the level of each emirate of the products that were withdrawn from the market. To take appropriate measures, each according to its competence.

She stated that the procedures for withdrawing products from the market are carried out in coordination and integration with the relevant regulatory bodies at the level of each emirate, represented by the Abu Dhabi Council for Quality and Conformity in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and the municipalities and economic development departments in the various emirates of the country, with the aim of enhancing the safety of products by ensuring their compliance with specifications.

Al-Zarouni stated that market surveys, and the accompanying withdrawal of non-conforming products from the market, come within the framework of the Ministry of Industry's strategy to support the growth of the industry and enhance its competitiveness on the basis of quality concepts, in order to ensure consumer rights to obtain products that meet safety and quality standards through Confirming their conformity with the specifications of the products offered in the markets, thus contributing to raising the quality of these products and qualifying them to compete in local markets with imported products or when exporting to foreign markets.

Al-Zarouni stressed that upgrading the quality infrastructure system comes from the national strategy for industry and advanced technology "the 300 billion project", which contributed to the state's support to move to a new stage of empowerment and motivation for the industrial sector.
