[Explanation] Recently, many places in China have been affected by cold air, which makes people feel a "warm and cold" and "cold spring".

Liu Yunyun, a senior engineer at the National Climate Center, said that starting from March 16, most of the central and eastern regions of China have cooled by 4-10 degrees Celsius, and some areas have cooled to more than 12 degrees Celsius. There is strong precipitation and strong convective weather in the southern region.

[Same period] Liu Yunyun, senior engineer of the National Climate Center, started from the 16th. This strong cooling process has now dropped by 4-10°C in most parts of the central and eastern regions of my country, and may reach above 12°C in some areas.

With this obvious cold air process, heavy rain occurred in most parts of the south, and heavy rain in some areas.

Snowfall has occurred in parts of northern China to central Inner Mongolia, and the local area has reached the magnitude of heavy snow.

[Explanation] Recently, the temperature in many places across the country has dropped significantly compared with the first ten days of March. Is such a temperature change normal?

Liu Yunyun said that spring, as the transition season from winter to summer, is the most unstable period for various meteorological elements.

[Same period] Liu Yunyun, senior engineer of the National Climate Center, is actually very common after entering the spring. The winter circulation in the winter half year is converted into the summer monsoon circulation. It (spring) is a transition season.

Therefore, all kinds of meteorological elements at this time are the most uncertain times.

[Explanation] In 2021, China will be affected by double La Niña with more extreme weather, extraordinary rainfall in the north, and global warming will also exacerbate the instability of the global climate system.

Liu Yunyun said that the second La Niña event that started in September 2021 is still ongoing, which may lead to more extreme weather in China this year.

[Same period] Liu Yunyun, a senior engineer at the National Climate Center, started the second La Niña in September last year (2021) and is still continuing.

We expect this event to end in late spring and early summer this year, but its effects are likely to linger.

(It is expected that this year) the rainy areas in spring and summer are in the north of my country, and there may be periodic meteorological droughts in the south, so it is also considered that regional and periodic drought and flood disasters will be more obvious this year. In summer, the number of high temperature days in the south is also There will be more, considering that extreme events may be more and stronger.

[Commentary] Liu Yunyun reminded that in the context of intensified global warming, extreme weather with "small probability and high impact" is more likely to occur, so the public should pay more attention to weather forecasts in life to avoid being affected.

[Concurrent] Senior Engineer of National Climate Center

With the intensification of global warming, the so-called "small probability and high impact" extreme weather events are also more likely to occur, so we face such climate risks and impacts will greatly increase.

It also reminds everyone to pay more attention to weather changes, appropriately increase or decrease clothes, and prevent sudden changes in temperature.
