At the press conference, Shen Jiwei, a member of the Party Group of the Henan Provincial Department of Water Resources, responded to the cause of the serious waterlogging in Weihui City, Xinxiang.

　　Shen Jiwei said that the water accumulation in Weihui City, Xinxiang is more serious. The analysis has four main reasons:

　　First, the geographical location makes it easy to accumulate water.

Weihui City is located at the confluence of Wei River and Dongmeng Jiangnv River. The terrain is low-lying and it is also a gathering area of ​​water from the upper reaches of Wei River. Once there is heavy rain and flood, it is easy to accumulate water;

　　The second is that the local rainfall is heavy, and there is a lot of water.

From the 17th to the 24th, the average rainfall from the Xinxiang Hehe Gate to the Weihui area was 550mm, and the estimated water production was 185 million cubic meters. A large amount of rainwater was not discharged enough to form stagnant water;

　　The third is that the water position of Weihe Weihui section remains high and the drainage is not smooth.

Weihe Jixian Hydrological Station has exceeded the guaranteed water level since 23:00 on the 22nd, and the water level is still above the warning level. It continues to stay high, and the city's accumulated water is not discharged into the Wei River smoothly;

　　Fourth, the right embankment of Weihui's communism canal drained into the urban area.

The right embankment 1.1 kilometers upstream of the Muye Bridge in the Communist Canal was overrun. It was successfully blocked at 8:58 on the 26th. During this period, the flood in the Communist Canal entered the Weihe River, increasing the flow of the Weihe River and the Weihui section. Water level; at the same time, part of the flood water flows downstream along the dike into Weihui City.

To sum up, the superimposition of the above causes resulted in serious accumulation of water in Weihui.

　　He said that by speeding up the flood drainage, the waterlogging problem in Weihui City will be resolved as soon as possible.
