The wholesale price of the main vegetables this month is expected to be low for hot pot dishes and Chinese cabbage and radish used for oden because of the good weather and good growth.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, the wholesale prices of major vegetables at the Tokyo Metropolitan Central Wholesale Market are 52% for Chinese cabbage, 46% for lettuce, 44% for radish, and 39% for cabbage as of the 29th. It's getting cheaper.

This is because the vegetables have grown steadily since mid-October, mainly in the production areas of eastern Japan, due to the blessed weather such as high temperatures.

Also, according to the forecast of wholesale prices of major vegetables this month announced on the 30th, the prices of radish, carrot, Chinese cabbage, cabbage, spinach, green onion and lettuce are all at low levels.

On the other hand, potatoes and onions are expected to remain at high prices due to the continued high temperature and low rainfall in Hokkaido in July.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries wants to publish recipes for cooking using vegetables on its website to increase consumption.
