Last month's domestic shipments of so-called white goods such as air conditioners and refrigerators amounted to more than 210 billion yen, up 9% from the same month last year.

Shipments have exceeded the same month of the previous year for eight consecutive months, and the so-called nesting demand continues to rise due to the effects of the new coronavirus.

According to the Japan Electrical Manufacturers' Association, the domestic shipment value of white goods last month was 212.9 billion yen, 9% higher than the same month last year.

Shipments have exceeded the same month of the previous year for eight consecutive months since October last year.

The main reason for this is that the so-called nesting demand continues to increase due to the increase in time spent at home, such as the declaration of an emergency due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection.

By product, refrigerators increased by 12% compared to the same month last year, air conditioners increased by 8%, and washing machines increased by 4%.

In addition, as the number of consumers who want to keep their homes clean has increased, the number of air purifiers has increased significantly to 52% and the number of dehumidifiers to 43%.

Regarding the outlook for the future, the Japan Electrical Manufacturers' Association said, "Although the state of emergency has been lifted and some have shifted to priority measures such as prevention of spread, we expect that demand for nesting and awareness of cleanliness will continue to increase." ..
