A new beta version of the WhatsApp instant messaging app was unveiled on Wednesday.

It now offers its users to leave a visible message for 90 days, or three months, before it disappears, according to information from the specialized site

Currently, Facebook instant messaging allows a message to disappear after a period of 7 days.

At the beginning of July, the application also offers the View Once option, which allows you to delete any content as soon as it has been read by the recipient.

In parallel, WhatsApp also continues to experiment with 24-hour ephemeral messages, an option available since April in the beta.

Ephemeral messages offer "peace of mind"

Depending on the results of these two tests, the 90-day and 24-hour periods could soon be used by all users of the messaging application. Ephemeral messages provide "the peace of mind of knowing your conversations won't stick around indefinitely, without sacrificing the convenience of being able to know what you were chatting about," WhatsApp said. However, it's still possible for someone to take a screenshot during a trade.

For now, it is impossible to say when these options will be included in the stable version of WhatsApp on Android and iOS, or even if they will be.

Indeed, a feature can remain for several months confined to the beta program.

In addition, it is also possible that after the test period, WhatsApp finally decides not to add the option to its application.
