【Explanation】Zhangqiu District of Jinan City is a famous green onion producing area in China. Due to its tall, long white onion, strong growth, tender and delicious, Zhangqiu green onion is loved by the majority of the people, and it is also a local driving force for regional economic development. A pillar industry that drives farmers to increase their incomes and become rich.

Recently, the price of green onions in the market has soared. On November 1st, the reporter visited the green onion planting base in Zhangqiu District, Jinan City, to investigate the reasons behind the rising prices of green onions.

[Explanation] Planing, sorting, bundling, and loading. More than 10 people are busy harvesting green onions in the west green onion planting field in Xujia Village, Zhangqiu District, at around 10 am.

Recently, as the price of green onions has been rising, it has doubled within a few days, which is much higher than the same period last year. So what causes the price of green onions to rise all the way?

The reporter interviewed Zhang Shoudun, a grower who has 40 years of green onion planting experience.

There was too much rain, and basically all drowned. The yield reduction was particularly severe. Last year, the green onions with an area of 13 or 4 per acre was only 6 or 7 kilograms this year. 7 kilograms is considered good. The group buying is too concentrated. Insufficient manpower, the increase of four or five cents in two or three days, within 10 days, directly rose from 1 yuan 4 to the highest 3 yuan, Mao Cong.

[Explanation] Zhang Shoudun said that the vegetable market is at a time when the vegetable market is "unavailable". The introduction of summer vegetables to the market has ended. A small amount of autumn and winter vegetables are on the market. Vegetables in the main production areas grow slowly. Vegetables in some areas have been flooded with large areas and reduced market supply. Caused the price of vegetables to rise significantly.

Later, the reporter went to a large vegetable wholesale market in Jinan City. Most of the vegetables on the market have increased in price to varying degrees, but the variety of vegetables is complete, and the overall supply is stable.

(The price of vegetables) is more expensive, especially spinach. In that supermarket, they are all 15, 14, 12. The fine vegetables have risen much, but the cabbage has basically not risen so much.

(The price of vegetables) Just keep it steady. Don't fluctuate. I don't think the common people can accept this.

[Explanation] As of October 27, the average price of 28 kinds of vegetables monitored by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs was 6.04 yuan/kg, up 32% from the beginning of September.

The average price of 10 kinds of vegetables has increased by more than 50%.

Since October, vegetable prices have "jumped up" significantly. Among them, spinach and cucumber have risen the most, with prices more than doubled.

[Explanation] It is understood that in order to ensure the supply and price stability of the vegetable market, all localities and departments are actively taking measures.

It is expected that with the implementation of relevant measures to ensure supply and price stabilization, the overall upward trend of vegetable prices will ease and it is expected to gradually return to the same period of the year.
