It was a day at the end of May, and the weather was already a bit hot. He wore a large brimmed hat and uniform and stood on the west gate of Peking University.

The story since then is well known.
This small security guard from Changzhi, Shanxi, passed his self-study and passed the entrance examination of Peking University's law college. He turned from a security guard to a college student. He was called "the first security guard at Peking University" and thus opened the prelude to the Peking University's "security guard group".
Once radiant, life will be more exciting after that.
The former Peking University security guard has now been teaching in his hometown for more than 20 years and has founded a private secondary vocational school mainly for rural children.
He said: "Beijing University has planted a seed for me, and I want to bring this seed to more people."
Escape the mountain
From the urban area of Changzhi all the way to the north, to the edge of the Shangdang Basin, with undulating terrain and winding mountain roads. For about an hour, we arrived at Tuquan Village, Xialiang Town, Xiangyuan County, Changzhi City, where Zhang Juncheng was born.
Dozens of families live in clusters. The houses are built on the mountain, mostly earthen kilns, with scattered arable land and little harvest.
In Zhang Juncheng's memory, he always wore the old clothes of his brothers, patched piles of patches, shiny cuffs and front flaps, and shoes with exposed toes.
For breakfast, I usually steamed a few small wild pears picked from the mountain, and lunch was the "Sanhe Noodles" mixed with cornmeal and sorghum noodles. I was reluctant to pour the oil when cooking, so I just brushed the pot with a cloth head soaked in oil.
At the hardest time, the family had a meal without a meal, and the parents had no choice but to ask the neighbor to borrow rice for cooking.
I don't know how many times Zhang Juncheng saw the tears secretly falling from his mother.
Because of family poverty, Zhang Juncheng's brothers and sisters dropped out of school successively. Zhang Juncheng, as the youngest in the family, was the only child who had finished junior high school.
Zhang Juncheng remembered that every time he paid tuition in junior high school, he owed it first.
Since it's so difficult, why bother parents?
Zhang Juncheng interrupted his studies after graduating from junior high school.
Seeing his elder brother who works in the county hot his head and wears bell-bottoms, he is very "foreign". Zhang Juncheng also has the idea of working, but his mother, who is distressed by the youngest child, disagrees. Can't take care of it".
In this way, Zhang Juncheng can only stay at home and help his parents with farming.
More than 20 years later, Zhang Juncheng still feels that farming is the "hardest job".
Being afraid of being poor, and even more terrified, Zhang Juncheng's heart to escape from the mountain is becoming more and more urgent day by day.
After being soaked for more than two years, the mother was finally relieved.
This year Zhang Juncheng was 17 years old when he walked out of the mountains.
Cousin helped him find a job as a stamper in an auto repair factory in downtown Changzhi.
Zhang Jun cherishes the hard work. Not only does his work earnestly, he always rushes to do the dirty work.
Once, there was an urgent order that needed to work overtime, and the old workers were unwilling to do it, so Zhang Juncheng pushed it up without saying a word.
After working as a stamping worker for 8 months, a Beijing security company came to Changzhi to recruit people. With the support of the factory leadership, Zhang Juncheng signed up and got on the bus to Beijing.
Zhang Juncheng needs to train for nearly a month before entering the job, and the training results directly determine the destination.
To do it, do it to the best.
With this belief in mind, Zhang Juncheng devoted himself to training. If someone else practices for one hour, he will practice for two hours. If someone else reads a book, he will read it twice.
At the end of the training, he won the first place in many assessments such as military skills, business knowledge, and professional standards, and the final score ranked first among more than 500 people.
After winning the first place, Zhang Juncheng knew that his distribution would not be too bad.

In 1994, Zhang Juncheng was assigned to Peking University and also to the West Gate, a landmark building of Peking University, known as the "First Gate of Peking University".
Taking the post next to the quaint red goalpost, Zhang Juncheng always stood upright.
When he was not on guard, he would ask the veteran for advice on business.
The probation period of more than two months passed, and Zhang Juncheng was promoted to be the monitor of the Simon squad because of his outstanding business and serious work.
In the past, it took more than half a year to go from recruit to squad leader.
After becoming the monitor, Zhang Juncheng worked more vigorously.
He told his team members that Peking University is a first-class institution with first-class masters and students. Peking University’s security guards should also be first-class security guards, and Ximen Security must become a first-rate first-rate institution.
After some pondering, Zhang Juncheng and his teammates decided to learn from the Tiananmen flag-raising ceremony and also set up a handover ceremony. They should play a positive step, salute together, and shout slogans.

Zhang Juncheng has been immersed in Yanyuan for a long time, and a voice in his mind has become stronger and stronger: "I want to change, I want to learn." But the real reason for him to pick up the book was a "crit".
Once, a few undocumented young foreigners wanted to enter the school. Zhang Juncheng saluted and discouraged him with gestures, but the other party did not understand what it meant.

Zhang Juncheng is both resentful and aggrieved.
He returned to the duty room, took off his hat, took off his belt, and called his mother: "I'm quitting. I want to go home. I was born to farm the land." The mother asked, "When you left, you said you want to break through. It's famous, have you broken out now?" After the mother said, she hung up the phone.
After tossing and turning for one night, Zhang Juncheng made up his mind to learn English by himself.
The next day, he bought two English books.
While standing guard in the day shift, Zhang Juncheng taught himself when there was no one in the night shift, and he often read words and sentences aloud.
One night, a female teacher passed by and asked him curiously what he was doing. When she learned that Zhang Juncheng was learning English, the female teacher smiled: "It's a good thing to learn English, but I listened to it for a few days and thought you were speaking German." Juncheng smiled embarrassedly.
For several days thereafter, the female teacher would always help Zhang Juncheng to correct his pronunciation.
More than a month later, the female teacher called the security room and asked Zhang Juncheng to go to the English department.
It turned out that the teacher was Cao Yan, a professor in the English Department of Peking University. She issued two free English listening certificates for Zhang Juncheng and asked the Security Department to take care of Zhang Juncheng's study.
Holding the attendance certificate, Zhang Juncheng's tears almost fell.
Teacher Cao said, "I don't want you to be moved, I want you to act."
Encouraged by Teacher Cao, Zhang Juncheng knew that he would be able to go to Peking University through the self-examination, so he wanted to take the examination.
With a weak cultural background and ensuring his daily work, Zhang Juncheng's test preparation is destined to be difficult.
In order to gain more study time, he took the initiative to apply for the night shift and only sleeps for three or four hours a day. Apart from standing guard, he almost always reads and writes questions. It is really a waste of sleep and food. He lost 15 kilograms in half a year.
Over time, many masters and students in Beijing know that Ximen has a security guard who loves to learn.
Professor Zhang Xuecheng of the Department of Eastern Languages learned that Zhang Juncheng was going to major in law, and helped him contact the teachers of the law department and asked Zhang Juncheng to listen.
Professor Zhang Yushu of the Department of Western Languages came to Zhang Juncheng for a walk in two days and talked to him about Marx, Nietzsche, Hegel, and Schopenhauer along the way.
At sunset, there are often old and young people on the shore of Weiming Lake.
Hard work pays off.
After half a year, Zhang Juncheng was admitted to the Faculty of Law of Peking University.
In the following three years, he stubbornly nibbled on difficult and difficult professional knowledge, passed all 13 courses with high scores, and successfully obtained a diploma from Peking University's law major.
Under his leadership, more than a dozen security guards from Peking University joined the ranks of studying and studying.
The story of Zhang Juncheng was known to many people, and he became a business card of the Peking University Guards.

In 1999, Zhang Juncheng's newlywed wife became pregnant and hoped that he could go home.
Although the school security team kept it in every possible way, Zhang Juncheng himself was reluctant to leave, he still decided to leave: "Beijing University has taught me the most important things. I believe that no matter where I go, I can break into a world."
Return to hometown to teach
With a Peking University diploma, three heavy bags of books, and five years of precious life experience, Zhang Juncheng bid farewell to Yanyuan and returned to his hometown.

Zhang Juncheng first thought of school.
Because of his experience at Peking University and a junior college degree in law, Zhang Juncheng successfully entered a management position in a secondary vocational school in Changzhi.
It didn't take long for him to itch and want to go to the podium.
The principal agreed: As long as the trial lecture passes the review, you can go to it.
Zhang Juncheng gave a trial lecture, the review teachers nodded frequently, and finally passed unanimously.
So he officially stepped onto the podium and became a teacher.
As a teacher, Zhang Juncheng feels even more responsible. Before each class, he has to repeatedly polish the content of the lecture, and he will intersperse his own experience in it to increase the interactive link.
Because of his broad knowledge, humorous language, and the atmosphere of a big city, Zhang Juncheng was quickly welcomed by the students, and his law and politics classes became their favorite courses.
Soon, Zhang Juncheng was arranged to be the head teacher.
The first class he took over was a recognized "stab head class".
Li Feng, who is now a teacher, was once a student in this class.
He still remembered that the grades in the class were at the end of the whole year, and the discipline was the hardest to manage. There were many mischievous people, and being late and smoking were commonplace.
The former head teacher once said: Even if the ditch in the Taihang Mountains is filled, the class is not good.
Zhang Juncheng took over this "ditch filling project" that no one wanted to do.
He said that there are no students who can't teach well, only teachers who can't teach.
The first thing Zhang Juncheng did was to eat and live with the students.
He put his home in the school, folded the quilt like tofu, and the students gathered for running exercises at 6 in the morning. He stood on the playground ten minutes early.
When eating, he lined up with the students for dinner and had dinner at the same table.
When the student went to self-study at night, he took the book and sat aside.
When a student plays ball between classes, he will accompany him to play, sometimes he deliberately loses a few balls...
When it's okay, Zhang Juncheng likes to chat with students.
Li Feng still remembered that the former head teacher never talked to students, nor did students talk to teachers, so when he was called away for the first time, he thought he had done something wrong.
"Unexpectedly, it was really just chatting, chatting on an equal footing, and gradually everyone trusted him and was willing to talk to him."

There are more and more dormitories on the housekeeping rankings, class academic performance is getting better and better, and troublesome things no longer happen.
Upon graduation, this class counterattacked and became the class with the best grades in the whole year.
Looking back on this experience 20 years later, Li Feng is still emotional.

During the four or five years of returning to his hometown, Zhang Juncheng moved to many schools, but he never left the education industry.
He said that at the beginning it was a sense of responsibility. He felt that if he quit, many children would lose the opportunity to receive education. Later, he felt that being a teacher had an "addiction". Seeing that he could affect one child after another, he felt that from the bottom of his heart happy.
Zhang Juncheng remembered that there was a student who liked to go to Internet cafes to skip class. The parents searched almost all the Internet cafes in the city to find them. The parents said cruelly before leaving: "We can't educate. If the teacher can't educate, let him fend for himself. "It was late at night to send away the parents of the students. Zhang Juncheng took the children who hadn't eaten into the small restaurant, a bowl of noodles, and the children burst into tears.
Since then, the student has never been to an Internet cafe and was admitted to the university three years later.
Many times, Zhang Juncheng looked at these children as if he saw himself at the beginning.
"Without the experience of Peking University, I don't know what I would be like now." He said, "When I was most confused, the teachers at Peking University selflessly helped me and gave me a hand. I also hope to be like them. Pull others out."
Founding a School and Entrepreneurship
After 16 years of working in a secondary vocational school, Zhang Juncheng has his own knowledge and understanding of secondary vocational education.
Many ideas and methods could not be brought into play, so Zhang Juncheng moved his own idea of running a school.
In 2015, Zhang Juncheng, who is nearly a year old, and his friends jointly funded the establishment of Changzhi Technology Secondary Vocational School, and Zhang Juncheng served as the principal.
The biggest feature of this school is the implementation of "paramilitary management."
Entering the campus in the suburbs of Changzhi, the classroom walls are painted with camouflage colors, the students wear camouflage uniforms, the dormitory is also like a military camp, the beds are flat and the quilts are folded like tofu.
Here, the students have to do exercises in the morning, sing together before meals, turn off the lights on time in the evening, and only use cards for consumption. The maximum consumption is 40 yuan per day.
Zhang Juncheng said that many students in the school lack family care, and the school should fill this gap as much as possible. For this reason, he advocates that teachers should "treat students as their own children" and "strive to become students' favorite teachers."
"Post-90s" Liu Jianbo was a student of Zhang Juncheng, and became a teacher after graduating from a junior college.
When entering the job, Zhang Juncheng said to him: "Bring out the energy that I brought you to lead the students."
In Liu Jianbo's view, that kind of "strength" is to be a teacher with a kind of father's love, being strict and caring.
Liu Jianbo is always learning Zhang Juncheng unconsciously: insist on running exercises with the students, always stand on the playground ten minutes in advance; no matter how late, he must accompany the students to study in the evening; when a student makes a mistake, he always thinks about the teacher How did you deal with it...
Most of the students who come to vocational schools are born in rural areas, and many of them are from poor families.
In order to allow these children to finish reading the books, Zhang Juncheng set up work-study positions in the school. Students can use their spare time to help the kitchen earn money. If they can't pay the fees, they can also postpone the payment or even exempt the payment.
During the holidays, the school will also arrange internship opportunities for poor students through the school-enterprise cooperation model to help them support themselves.
"I didn't go to school because I was poor, so when I saw students who couldn't read books, I paid special attention to them. I couldn't read books, at least I couldn't if I saw them." Zhang Juncheng said.
Starting with one or two hundred students, to 1,300 students today, the school founded by Zhang Juncheng has become one of the best secondary vocational schools in Changzhi City.
The school has more than a dozen majors such as aviation service, robotics, and animation design. Over the past five years, it has sent thousands of talents and college students to the society and colleges.
After being taught at Peking University and engaged in education for more than 20 years, Zhang Juncheng's understanding of education is also changing.
"In the past, I thought that education was to impart knowledge, but now I think that education is a way of leading the way. Teachers use their hearts as fire and light a lamp for students," said Zhang Juncheng.
