On September 27, 2022, local time, NASA released an image of the spiral galaxy IC 5332 captured by the Webb Telescope and its Mid-Infrared Instrument (MIRI).

The galaxy is more than 29 million light-years away from Earth and has a diameter of about 66,000 light-years, making it slightly larger than the Milky Way.

The galaxy, previously observed by Hubble, looks like a spiral with its arms spinning outward.

The Webb Space Telescope has returned extremely detailed images of the galaxy, which is slightly larger than our parent galaxy, the Milky Way, in "unprecedented detail."
