China News Service, Beijing, July 29. Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi had a phone conversation with French Foreign Minister Le Drian on the 28th.
Wang Yi said that in the face of increasing world instability and uncertainty, as permanent members of the UN Security Council and a large country with an independent tradition, China and France should strengthen strategic communication and coordination, not only to develop China-France and China-EU relations, but also Jointly safeguard multilateralism, join hands to oppose unilateral bullying, and safeguard world peace and stability.
Wang Yi said that not long ago, the new round of China-France Strategic Dialogue and the High-level Economic and Financial Dialogue had achieved fruitful results, reflecting the comprehensiveness and strategic nature of China-France relations, and making necessary preparations for exchanges and interactions between the two heads of state this year. The two parties should make full use of the "fast track" to help resume work and production, and create good conditions for the resumption of personnel and flights.
Wang Yi pointed out that China and France are comprehensive strategic partners, and we should open up to each other instead of restricting each other; we should do more to promote mutual benefit and win-win results, not to cause a double loss. It is hoped that France and China will jointly maintain a fair and just market environment and not adopt discriminatory policies against any enterprise.
Wang Yi said that China and the EU are two important forces in the world's multipolarization and should play the role of a global stabilizer. China is willing to strengthen coordination with France on China-EU relations and accelerate cooperation in areas such as China-EU investment agreement negotiations and climate change. Wang Yi emphasized that China and France are playing a constructive role in international and regional affairs. This year marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations. China and France should hold high the banner of multilateralism, uphold the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, oppose any attempt to weaken the role of the UN, and support the UN’s central position in the international system.
Le Drian said that France and China have been in close communication and cooperation since the outbreak. The two sides have made proper arrangements for the flight exchanges between the two countries, which effectively guarantees the personnel exchanges between the two sides. The recent French-Chinese strategic dialogue and high-level economic and financial dialogue have been fruitful. France is willing to work with China to prepare for the next high-level exchanges. The French side treats all companies in any country equally and does not adopt a discriminatory policy. Both Europe and China adhere to multilateralism. France attaches great importance to EU-China relations, supports the fruitful dialogue between Europe and China, and advances EU-China investment agreement negotiations and climate change cooperation.
