China News Service, Phnom Penh, August 6 (Reporter Ouyang Kaiyu) On the afternoon of August 5, local time, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi held a press conference for Chinese and foreign media after attending the series of foreign ministers' meetings on East Asia cooperation in Phnom Penh.

Wang Yi said, I would like to expound on China's position on the Taiwan issue. Considering that the US has just spread a lot of false information and untrue words on this issue, it is even more necessary for us to clarify the facts so as to face up to the truth.

Wang Yi said that in disregard of China's firm opposition and repeated representations, U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, in fact, under the connivance and arrangement of the U.S. government, blatantly visited China's Taiwan region. It violates the commitments made by the United States and seriously endangers the peace and stability of the Taiwan Strait.

Of course, China should make a firm response.

Our position is legitimate, reasonable and legal, our measures are firm, forceful and appropriate, and our military drills are open, transparent and professional, in line with domestic law, international law, and international practice. "Taiwan independence" forces punished.

We will resolutely safeguard China's sovereignty and territorial integrity, resolutely deter the United States' attempt to "use Taiwan to control China", and resolutely smash the Taiwan authorities' illusion of "relying on the United States to seek independence". At the same time, we are also safeguarding international law and basic norms of international relations. In particular, the most important international law of non-interference in internal affairs stipulated in the UN Charter.

If the principle of non-interference in internal affairs is ignored and abandoned, the world will return to the law of the jungle, and the United States will more recklessly treat and bully other countries, especially small and medium-sized countries, with its so-called power status.

We cannot allow this kind of thing to happen, and all countries should also unite to not allow this kind of thing to happen, and not allow the progress of human civilization to go backwards.

Wang Yi said that because of this, more than 100 countries have publicly stood up and reaffirmed their firm adherence to the one-China policy and their understanding and support of China's legitimate position.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres clearly stressed that the UN will continue to adhere to UNGA Resolution 2758.

The core is the one-China principle, that is, there is only one China in the world, the government of the People's Republic of China is the sole legal government representing the whole of China, and Taiwan is a part of China.

This is the voice of justice shared by the international community.

Wang Yi stressed that the US "using Taiwan to control China" is just a fantasy, and it cannot stop the historical trend of Taiwan's return to the motherland or the historical process of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

The "Taiwan independence" forces "relying on the United States to seek independence" are even more illusions. They are doomed to die, and the noose around their necks will only get tighter and tighter.

Wang Yi said that Pelosi's trip to Taiwan actually turned into a farce and shot herself in the foot. Instead, it consolidated the consensus of the international community and inspired the Chinese people to unite and accelerate the construction of socialist modernization. The will and determination to strengthen the country and realize the reunification of the motherland.

In response to the U.S. argument that the U.S. House Speaker's visit to Taiwan has precedent, Wang Yi emphasized that the visit by U.S. House Speaker Gingrich to Taiwan was a serious mistake, and the Chinese government strongly opposed it at that time.

The United States has no right or qualification to make the same mistakes again, and cannot use past mistakes as excuses and reasons for repeating today.

Does the United States want to do all the bad and scandalous things it has done in history again?

In response to the U.S. claim that China has changed the status quo across the Taiwan Strait, Wang Yi said that this is complete rumors and slander.

Taiwan has never been a country, there is only one China, and both sides of the strait belong to the same country. This is the status quo of Taiwan since ancient times.

The communique on the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the United States in 1978 clearly emphasized that the government of the People's Republic of China is the only legitimate government representing the whole of China, and Taiwan is a part of China. This is the status quo across the Taiwan Strait that has remained unchanged for decades.

But this status quo has indeed been broken.

The spoiler is not China, but the separatist forces in the United States and Taiwan.

In 2000, the US put the so-called "Taiwan Relations Act" unilaterally concocted before the three Sino-US joint communiques. Isn't this changing the status quo?

A few years ago, the U.S. side put the so-called "six guarantees to Taiwan", which was kept secret, openly in the statement of the U.S. one-China policy. Isn't this changing the status quo?

Isn't it hollowing out the one-China policy?

It is suggested that the U.S. politicians take out the three joint communiqués again and take a good look at them, so as to know what is the real status quo across the Taiwan Strait and who has changed the status quo across the Taiwan Strait.

The same is true for Taiwan.

After the DPP came to power, it continued to promote "progressive Taiwan independence", carried out "de-sinicization", and created "two Chinas" and "one China, one Taiwan" on various occasions. Isn't this a blatant change of the status quo?

If Mr. Sun Yat-sen knew it, he would point at Tsai Ing-wen's nose and call her an unworthy descendant.

In response to reports that the United States is increasing its military deployment in the region, Wang Yi expressed the hope that all parties will be highly vigilant.

The usual method of the US is to create problems first, and then use them to achieve their goals, but in the face of China, this approach will not work!

We have to solemnly warn the United States not to act rashly and not to create a bigger crisis.

In response to US Secretary of State Blinken's statement at the meeting, the US hopes to abide by international law and safeguard the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries.

Wang Yi said, we haven't heard such a statement from the US side for a long time. So far, the US has done many things that violated the sovereignty and territorial integrity of other countries. If it can really correct its wrongdoing, we will encourage it, but the key is to implement it.

First of all, we should fulfill our commitment to respect China's sovereignty and territorial integrity on the Taiwan issue, stop interfering in China's internal affairs, and stop condoning and supporting "Taiwan independence" forces.
