“Biden and Zelensky must understand the consequences of what is happening in Ukraine,” he wrote on Telegram.
Volodin recalled that statements from Washington and Brussels are multiplying with proposals to empty grain storage facilities to make room for a new crop.
“Today, the situation in Ukraine is not simple: many of its regions have not carried out spring field work in full.
This can lead to food shortages,” the speaker of the State Duma noted.
According to him, it is “in no case impossible to export grain,” since Ukrainians themselves will suffer from this.
“It is first necessary to understand what kind of balance in the country in terms of food will be formed after the grain harvest in the fall,” he said.
He also warned of the consequences of sanctions against Russia that ban the supply of fertilizers.
"Biden and Zelensky will achieve their goal - they will go down in history as presidents who staged a famine on the planet," Volodin concluded.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin, in a conversation with Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi, noted that Russia is ready to help overcome the food crisis through the export of grain and fertilizers, but for this it is necessary to remove politically motivated restrictions imposed by Western countries.
Economist John Ross, in a column for Asia Times, noted that the United States and its G7 allies deliberately do not recognize the negative effect of sanctions imposed against Russia on the food situation in the world.
