With the restyling of this sixth generation, Volkswagen is turning its Polo into a real "baby-Golf", both aesthetically and in terms of equipment.
This is distinguished from the first glance at the rear part, where the lights extend to the trunk door (a Golf gimmick), as well as at the front, where a light strip underlines the grille, between two LED spotlights (standard) that overhang a new shield.
Visually, it gains in dynamism, with an increased length of 21cm which culminates at 4.07m (the wheelbase remains unchanged) and a height which decreases slightly and passes to 1.45m (-2 cm), thus placing it in the category high average.

On board, the Polo inherits a new, more ergonomic steering wheel, and now offers the 8-inch digital instrument cluster (Digital Cockpit), lane-keeping assistant (Lane Assist) and Apple Car connectivity as standard. Play / Android Auto.
Four adults can still be seated there, with a 2-3 / 1-3 folding rear seat that opens onto a generous trunk: 351 liters, only its Spanish sister Ibiza does better!
Frugal
Regarding its engines, the 95 horsepower gasoline core range proved to be more than sufficient for normal use, while offering contained consumption: we measured 6.5 l / 100 on average during our test, on the mountainous roads. from Corsica.
With an entry ticket starting at € 18,015 for the basic version and the 80-horsepower petrol unit, the new Polo casts a wide net, but remains more expensive than its direct competitors.
Given its services and equipment, it will therefore be more of a favorite choice than a purely economic approach.
