More than 40 years ago, 18 farmers in Xiaogang Village pressed the "red handprint" and opened the curtain of rural reform in China.

Recently, the reporter came to Xiaogang Village, Fengyang County, Chuzhou City, Anhui Province to visit this vicissitudes of life in this village, which is known as the first village of China's rural reform.

  [Explanation] Xiaogang Village, located between the Jianghuai River and Huaihe River, used to be a "three-reliant village" before 1978 that relied on sales for food, relied on relief for expenditure, and relied on loans for production.

In the winter of 1978, Xiaogang Village realized the contract of production to households. The following year, the Xiaogang production team produced grain equivalent to the total from 1955 to 1970.

Nowadays, walking along Youyi Avenue in Xiaogang Village, row upon row of dwellings on both sides, farmhouses, specialty shops, and rural e-commerce businesses are booming.

The "big contract" has rewritten the history of China's rural development and has also brought about earth-shaking changes in Xiaogang Village.

The integration of primary, secondary and tertiary industries based on modern agriculture, agricultural product processing as the core, and tourism training, education, and rural e-commerce as the support The industrial structure of China has basically taken shape, and the people’s sense of happiness and security has been significantly improved.

  [Explanation] The 78-year-old Yan Jinchang is busy every day at his farmhouse. Although his hair is gray, he is full of energy.

The leader of the Xiaogang village contractor took the time to tell the guests the story of the year.

According to Yan Jinchang, in the past, Xiaogang people "have a lot of work" because they didn't have enough to eat, and now they "have no worries about food and clothes, and every family lives in a small foreign house."

Today, Yan Jinchang has transferred out his family’s 7 acres of land at a price of 800 yuan per acre, and he runs farmhouses and specialty shops with peace of mind, with an annual income of nearly 200,000 yuan.

  We have now undergone profound changes through reform and opening up for more than 40 years.

We now say that we have no worries about food and clothes. Every family lives in small western-style houses, and every family has to build garages. Every family is a private car. This is the great result of the reform and opening up for more than 40 years.

  [Explanation] Yan Jinchang said that rural revitalization is inseparable from talents, and he hopes that Xiaogang people's spirit of "dare to break, dare to try, and dare to be the first" can be passed on from generation to generation.

After graduating from university, Yan Jinchang's granddaughter Yanmei chose to return to Xiaogang Village and used her broadcasting and hosting major to become an interpreter in Xiaogang Tourist Area.

With the development of tourism in Xiaogang Village, more and more foreign tourists come here. In order to better tell the history of Xiaogang and spread the spirit of Xiaogang, Mei Yan insists on learning foreign languages ​​every day.

She said that even in ordinary positions, Xiaogang's spirit must be passed down.

  [Explanation] In recent years, more and more young people have chosen to return to Xiaogang. The second and third generations of Xiaogang who pressed the "red handprint" back then are using the Internet, Internet of Things, and artificial intelligence technologies to create A new future for Xiaogang Village.

"Post-90s" new farmer Zhou Dishuai once went out to work. Seeing the 600 acres of land transferred by his father-in-law, he was too busy on weekdays, so he quit his job and returned to his hometown to farm.

Zhou Dishuai said that mechanization and intelligence are the inevitable trend of agricultural development, especially in the current rural revitalization.

In the future, he will also "turn to" organic agriculture.
