On the occasion of the preview of Top Gun: Maverick, of which Europe 1 is a partner, the Patrouille de France flew over the Cannes festival, in honor of the star Tom Cruise.

A moment that our reporter Yohann Tritz was able to experience, aboard one of the Alpha Jets of the official Air Force aerobatic patrol.

On the occasion of the rise of the steps of Tom Cruise and the team of the film

Top Gun: Maverick

, of which Europe 1 is a partner, at the Cannes Film Festival, the patrol of France, and its Alpha Jet, illuminated the sky of Cannes Wednesday.

Our reporter Yohann Tritz had the chance to board one of the machines, for an unforgettable moment, to be found in story and video.

"What a wonderful experience"

"At the end of the day, Wednesday evening, the pressure still hadn't subsided because I really felt like in

Top Gun

. You had to have a strong heart, we're not going to lie to each other, because it started from takeoff with intense acceleration.Afterwards we headed for Cannes, with a magnificent landscape of Toulon, Saint-Tropez, and so on.

But once we got to the Croisette, it was a long, very long time... Because we were waiting for Tom Cruise to come to the steps, and he was late.

In the meantime, we were going around in circles with the Alpha Jet.

In total: 15 minutes of turn.

And then all of a sudden, the starting signal.

The planes race and go in a diamond formation with planes close together a few meters from each other.

I could almost touch them!

Just above the red carpet, the pilots release the blue-white-red smoke, then turn around, and do it again a second time this time in a tight turn, imagine my state...

By then, I was hanging on to the seat pretty well, but that's fine because it barely lasted three minutes.

Then, return to base for a soft landing.

I wouldn't do this every day, but what a wonderful experience!"
