Sinsheim (AP) - VfB Stuttgart has to do without its Argentine attacker Nicolás González for a longer period of time.
The 22-year-old tore his ankle ligament when the Swabians 3: 3 (2: 1) at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim on Saturday, as coach Pellegrino Matarazzo said after the Bundesliga game: “It will be a few weeks for sure until he can stand on the square again. "
González made it 1-1 with his goal, but had to leave the field injured after half an hour.
The striker has had a grueling journey to qualifying for the World Cup in South America, where he scored two goals in Argentina 1-1 against Paraguay and 2-0 in Peru.
However, the VfB coach did not attribute the injury to the circumstances of the past few days, as the muscles were not damaged.
