"The PR department of the US mission in China ... the US State Department announces an open tender for organizations to apply for programs to support activities aimed at explaining to the people of China US foreign policy, values and culture," the grant says.
The priority in the framework of the initiative under consideration, as noted in the document, will be activities related, inter alia, to the promotion of “free and fair bilateral trade, protection of intellectual property”, as well as to the provision of “assistance in understanding the advantages of a free and open Indo-Pacific region” .
In addition, program participants will be involved in work to “stimulate the exchange of views” on regional security in East Asia. In this context, among other things, the issue of countering the proliferation of nuclear weapons will be discussed.
Individuals, educational institutions, as well as American and Chinese non-profit organizations, including civil society institutions and think tanks, are eligible to apply for participation in the competition.
The document emphasizes that the project will not consider proposals for the implementation of such programs in Hong Kong, Macau or Taiwan.
