The U.S. Department of Defense said two high-ranking officials from the Afghan militant group ISIS Khorasan (IS-K) were killed in an airstrike in Afghanistan's Kabul airport.
General Hank Taylor, chief of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said at a Pentagon briefing that two IS-K planners were killed and one injured in the strike.
Earlier, foreign media reported that one person was killed in the airstrike.
The U.S. military conducted a drone-targeted air strike targeting IS-K, which was designated as the main agent of the bombing at the entrance of Kabul Airport, which killed 13 Americans and many others.
Taylor said 5,400 US citizens have been evacuated from Afghanistan so far.
There are 6,000 US citizens in Afghanistan, with about 600 remaining.
U.S. troops from Kabul Airport have also begun to withdraw, Defense Spokesperson John Kirby said.
