According to the Federal Penitentiary Service, the most difficult situation is now in the Butyrka pre-trial detention center (overcrowded by 29%) and in the Matrosskaya Tishina pre-trial detention center (overflowed by 27.7%).

“We need to plant less, I agree,” the head of the department answered the question of members of the PMC about reducing the number of arrests.

According to him, 700 people are now under house arrest in Moscow.

Sergei Moroz also assured human rights activists that the lifting of the current ban on cell-to-cell tours for PMCs due to the COVID-19 pandemic depends solely on the chief sanitary doctor of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia.

At the same time, according to the Federal Penitentiary Service of Moscow, now there is only one person in the capital's pre-trial detention center with a confirmed diagnosis of coronavirus.

Earlier, the press service of the Moscow City Court told RT that the number of people sent to a pre-trial detention center in Moscow increased by 1501 over the year.
