The UAE University, which is participating in the Expo 2020 Dubai through its own pavilion, revealed the design of the distinctive facade of the pavilion, which is inspired by the idea of ​​the “University of the Future” emanating from a new trend in the field of higher education, focused on preparing the rising generation to overcome the challenge of unemployment. , by transforming young people from job seekers to job makers, through the Explorers Program and the Institute for the Future (IoF) among its main objectives.

The main façade of the pavilion displays a distinctive image from a visual point of view installed on the upper panel, which includes three adventurous explorers walking in the Arabian desert, in search of hidden opportunities that have not yet been discovered, creativity, and education based on thought and logic, or in more profound terms: «Discover, Be, co-create” in pursuit of the stars.

The TODO team collaborated with the UAE University team, which is responsible for the university’s pavilion at the Expo, to design the main artwork, which expresses the symbolic narrative of the Explorers Program, which is a re-imagining of the possibilities available to humanity, with a bold adventure that includes building a human colony on The surface of Mars is preserved.

Here, the red planet symbolizes humanity's opportunity to start over and get a new source of innovative ideas in dealing with the most difficult and complex problems of the globe, while the Arabian desert reflects the valuable local environment of the UAE.

As for the explorers, they symbolize facing the challenge of unemployment through their quest for the stars, with the aim of overcoming the challenge of unemployment of 100 million shining stars in the Arab world and beyond, where the main mission of the Future University is to launch job makers, not job seekers.

In this regard, the Executive Director of the UAE University Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, Dr. Nihal Chiprak, said: “The facade reflects the philosophy and direction of the UAE University, as it is rooted in the depths of the country’s cultural and natural heritage, but it seeks to achieve a better future for humanity, and the Emirates plan for settlement is considered Mars by the year 2117, the best visions that can be implanted in young people who are passionate about science, technology and knowledge, and our explorers have already begun to think about the basic components (of the City of Wisdom), which will pave the way for young people to make multi-directional steps, towards innovation and life in this human colony on the surface of Mars, while reimagining life on Earth.”

For her part, Director of the UAE University Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, Dr. Sahra Bleibla, said: “We are pleased to unveil the cover of the facade, which is inspired by the nature and culture of the UAE, and the symbolic journey of the UAE University pavilion that reflects the spirit of adventure among the explorers, as it embodies the design of the cover of the UAEU pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai. The facade, the explorers’ goal on their journey through their future deserts, is to find inspiration from the sparkling sky to be better on an individual level and to give everyone the chance of a better life.”

The pavilion will be open to visitors from October 1, 2021.
