Minister of State for Foreign Trade, Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, held a bilateral meeting at the headquarters of the Ministry of Economy in Dubai, with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Development and Technology of Slovenia, Zdravko Pokivalsik, in which they discussed ways to strengthen bilateral economic relations and enhance the flow of trade between the two countries.

The two ministers discussed frameworks for developing economic partnership, expanding areas of cooperation, opening direct channels of communication between the UAE private sector and its Slovenian counterpart, developing the volume of intra-trade, doubling the import and export movement in vital sectors of common interest, as well as diversifying qualitative and future investments during the coming period.

Al Zeyoudi stressed the strength of the growing economic partnership between the UAE and Slovenia, pointing to the UAE's keenness to move to new levels of cooperation with Slovenia in many vital sectors, and to benefit from the strong industrial base that Slovenia possesses in many sectors.

He pointed out the importance of Expo 2020 Dubai in enhancing the map of economic cooperation for all participating countries, calling on the Slovenian business community to take advantage of the golden opportunity offered by the exhibition, discover new ways to achieve growth and prosperity, and build development partnerships in the fields of economy, business, trade and investment, and attract talent, tourism and culture. .

The non-oil trade exchange between the UAE and Slovenia recorded a growth of 23% during 2021 compared to 2020, also outperforming the year before the "Covid-19" pandemic in 2019 with a growth of about 13%.
