China News Service, May 19 (Reuters) - On the 18th local time, the U.S. Senate approved Bridget Brinker as the U.S. ambassador to Ukraine, ending the nearly three-year vacancy of the U.S. ambassador to Ukraine.
The U.S. Senate has approved Brinker as the new ambassador to Ukraine.

Brinker is currently the U.S. ambassador to Slovakia.
U.S. President Biden nominated Brinker in April as the new ambassador to Ukraine, and in the statement also called her a senior U.S. diplomat with years of experience in the European continent.
On the same day, U.S. Secretary of State Blinken said the U.S. had reopened its embassy in Kyiv.
It was previously reported that the position has been vacant since the former U.S. ambassador to Ukraine, Mary Yovanovitch, was recalled by then-President Trump in May 2019.
