Two were picked up from the water when the motorboat started to burn

It was around 12:30 that the fire broke out. The two people on board had to jump into the water, one of whom was missing a life jacket.

- There was a sailboat that could help them, says Christer Ekeroth, assistant rescue leader at the Swedish Maritime Administration.

The fire is said to have started in the engine room, and one of the people alerted before they both had to jump into the water.

- The man had burns on one hand, but they did not need medical care, says Christer Ekeroth.

The boat fire could be extinguished and towed now to Oskarshamn.

- It is not good if it sinks with diesel in, so you do what you can to get it into the port, says Christer Ekeroth.
