An investigation was opened by the Herbiers gendarmerie and the La Roche-sur-Yon Research Brigade (BR).

Two sisters were indicted on Friday for attempted assassination, and placed in pre-trial detention, said Emmanuelle Lepissier, prosecutor of the Republic of La Roche-sur-Yon to the newspaper

Ouest-France

at the end of the week.

They are suspected of having, on the evening of March 27, dumped gasoline cans at the foot of a residential house, in the Ardelay sector, near Les Herbiers in Vendée, and of having deliberately put the fire.

The 38-year-old man, who was in the home, had managed to extricate himself from the house, which had been largely damaged by the fire.

The sisters, aged 21 and 23, claim to know the victim "vaguely" and deny that they are linked to what happened.

The man has reportedly been threatened by the two sisters before

Still according to

Ouest-France

, the prosecution retained the premeditation because a few hours before the events, one of the two sisters was seen buying cans, found at the foot of the house, and gasoline.

The victim also formally recognized the two sisters, who had already threatened him with a knife and a hatchet.

The investigation will have to determine the reasons for the conflict.
