Due to the resurgence of the Covid-19 epidemic, health measures remain in place in Martinique.
The curfew in force has thus been extended "for two weeks," said the prefect of this overseas department on Tuesday.
At the end of November, the prefecture announced the establishment of a curfew from 7 p.m. on the whole island, until Wednesday, 5 a.m.
An exceptional measure to respond to the nocturnal violence that hit Martinique, on the sidelines of the general strike of November 22.
End of the derogation for restaurants
But faced with the resumption of the epidemic on the spot, the curfew will now apply from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., without exception for restaurants and theaters, which before the social events benefited from an exemption until 'at 10 p.m.
On the island, the health situation is deteriorating with 618 new cases of Covid-19 from November 29 to December 5, against 529 the previous week.
The positivity and incidence rates are on the rise, while vaccination has stagnated with nearly 40.5% of people having a complete vaccination schedule, among those aged 12 and over.
