Two dead and injured in forest fires in Algeria

Today, Wednesday, civil protection and the media reported that two people were killed and others injured in forest fires in northern Algeria.

The Civil Protection announced the killing of a 31-year-old woman and her 58-year-old mother in Setif (east).

Pictures taken in the Souk Harras border area with Tunisia showed Algerian citizens fleeing their homes amidst the flames.

Four people in this area suffered burns of varying degrees, while 41 others faced breathing difficulties.

Local media reported that 350 residents had been evacuated.

The Civil Protection indicated that 39 fires in 14 provinces are still ongoing, and that the border province of El Tarf with Tunisia has also recorded 16 fires, and helicopters have intervened to control the fires in three states.
