Warehouse421's summer program is full of arts

Warehouse421, the art and design destination in Abu Dhabi that focuses on innovative artworks and practices, and seeks to highlight and develop talent in the region, revealed its summer program for this year, which includes workshops for children and young adults, and trips on the cultural bus to delve into the world of art in Dubai and Sharjah, in addition to: Free dialogues from creative practitioners in the UAE are held online.

The program also includes a five-day summer club in partnership with CIO Studio, MIC and Early Starters, and film screenings to celebrate Emirati Women's Day.

The summer program of Fair 421, which started on July 1, will run until September 30.

General Manager of Warehouse421, Faisal Al Hassan said: “We have a rich program this summer for adults and children, as we wanted to focus more on the art scene in the UAE, so we were keen to put together an interesting program for the cultural bus.

We have also organized several workshops targeting children and young people, to introduce them more to the arts in the UAE, and help them explore their creativity.”

He added, “Our program includes rich dialogues that host artists to talk about their artistic practice, and bring together those with similar interests.

We were also keen this year to organize events that help members of the community get to know each other and develop their professional skills.

This year, we must celebrate Emirati Women's Day by highlighting their contributions in the field of filmmaking and directing.

We look forward to being a fun and useful destination for our friends and community this summer, especially as we are hosting two important exhibitions in the meantime, and I invite everyone to explore our summer program and enjoy their time with us.”

From the 25th of this month to the 7th of August, the summer club of Fair 421 will witness many handicraft and creative activities and events.

Kids will be able to explore the oceans with Makerspace, build sea creatures dolls, print with cliché, design bags, or design an LED lamp with glowing sea creatures.

They can also explore pottery with Studio Con through the Wheel Workshop, Pottery Painting and Doll Making, or they can choose to travel the world with Early Starters on a cultural exploration of Egypt, India and the Levant.

The five-day summer club for teens also offers one-day workshops that include learning to crochet, wearable wire art, designing pottery jewellery, coloring books and pickled juices, and a table setting design workshop.

The exhibition also prepared summer trips to get to know more about the cultural art scene in Dubai and Sharjah with the return of the cultural bus.

The trips include a visit to Jameel Arts Centre, Maraya Art Centre, Al Mamzar House, Al Serkal Avenue, the Museum of the Future, and Sharjah Art Foundation.

 Emirati creators

To celebrate Emirati Women’s Day, Warehouse421 in Abu Dhabi will host a special screening of six prominent Emirati female filmmakers who graduated from the Arab Studio Narrative and Documentary Programme.

The screening of the films was followed by a panel discussion with Emirati filmmakers.

Conversations during the summer club include the participation of three artists participating in the exhibition of NYU Abu Dhabi within the Master of Fine Arts program to shed light on what is happening behind the scenes and an inside look at their practices and artistic processes.
