Frankfurt / Main (dpa / lhe) - The trial against a suspected sympathizer of the terrorist organization Islamic State (IS) begins today in front of the Frankfurt Higher Regional Court.

The now 22-year-old German is accused of having traveled to Syria as a teenager in 2014 at the age of 16 and supporting her husband, who was fighting in the civil war.

In addition, she is said to have owned an assault rifle and lived with her husband in a house whose owners had previously been evicted.

After returning to Germany, the woman was arrested in November 2019.

The State Security Senate has initially scheduled 17 days of negotiations until the end of February.
