The European Parliament called on Thursday for the inclusion of abortion in the fundamental rights of the European Union.

"Everyone has the right to benefit from a safe and legal abortion": by 324 votes (155 against, 38 abstentions), MEPs, meeting in plenary session in Strasbourg, decided to ask the Council, which represents the Member States , to include this right in the Charter of Fundamental Rights.

As a reminder, the Supreme Court of the United States decided, on June 24, to leave the choice to each State concerning the legality or not of abortion.

Some have already suppressed this right, even in cases of rape or incest.

A decision that scandalizes several countries, including France.

In France, several politicians have since called for the inclusion of this right in the Constitution.
