The case caused a stir.
In January, when the country was facing the peak of the wave of the Omicron variant, the city of Bordeaux was facing a very high rate of absenteeism among the agents providing canteen service.
She then made the decision to suspend meals in the 113 schools in the town two days a week, asking parents to provide a picnic instead.
Introduced on January 24, the measure should end after the February school holidays.
“Despite the still strong impact of the fifth wave of the coronavirus epidemic on the teams of municipal school officials, the epidemic decline suggests, after the two weeks of school holidays, a return to normal in school restaurants as soon as Monday, February 28,” the city announced in a press release.
