The magazine L'Etudiant published Tuesday its ranking of French student cities where the quality of life is the best for studying.

As in 2019, Toulouse retains its first place, ahead of Lyon and Rennes.

Accommodation, studies, transport ... 16 criteria taken into account

In total, 16 indicators are taken into account, based on public data, such as housing costs, the supply of qualitative and diversified training, outings, sports and cultural offerings, a dynamic job market, or still an efficient and inexpensive transport network.

Two indicators were added this year: the presence of night transport and air quality.

The Student also takes into account the attractiveness for Erasmus students.

The city of Toulouse is in pole position for the criterion of student life and employment, in 3rd position for training, 4th for attractiveness and only 9th for living environment.

44 cities were screened.

At the back of the peloton, we find Perpignan (40th), Valenciennes (41st), Saint-Denis-de-la-Réunion (42nd), Douai-Lens (43rd) and Pointe-à-Pitre (44th).
