Tom Meighan has just been sentenced for domestic violence on his former fiancée, Vikki Ager. The artist, who became known with Kasabian, the group he set up with Serge Pizzorno, had pleaded guilty. The surveillance video released during the trial was final for the singer, who had previously declared himself innocent, denying that the attack, which took place in April, had taken place.

As the BBC relayed, on this video, we can see Tom Meighan banging the young woman's head against a hamster cage before throwing the one who shared her life across the room. He then grabbed her by the leg and hit her face before threatening her with a wooden palette.

Man and artist

As the prosecutor, Naeem Valli, detailed, a child witnessed the attack and it was she who called the police. He added that the singer, the father of a little girl born from a previous relationship, was "aggressive" and "stank like someone highly intoxicated" when the officers arrived. They found Vikki Ager with bruises on the knees, shoulder, ankle and redness around the neck.

In his decision, Judge Nick Watson made no difference between the man and the artist, quite the contrary. "I have to take into account that not only did you hurt Vikki Ager, but you also dropped many people - your band members and those who love your music. They will be shocked to learn what you did that night, ”he said.

Disappointing to see @KasabianHQ say the reason their lead singer was leaving the band was due to 'personal reasons that affected his behavior'. Today he pleaded guilty to assaulting his former fiancée in front of a child. There is no excuse for abuse https://t.co/Yc9VGt5pV3

Tom Meighan will not do any prison sentence, however. He was sentenced to 200 hours of community service, 5 days of reintegration and a fine of 90 pounds sterling as well as 85 pounds sterling for the costs of the proceedings. Vikki Ager did not wish to file a complaint against his ex-fiancé. During the hearing, Tom Meighan cried when he saw the video he called "horrible" and expressed his "deep remorse".

Tom Meighan is stepping down from Kasabian by mutual consent. Tom has struggled with personal issues that have affected his behavior for quite some time and now wants to concentrate all his energies on getting his life back on track. We will not be commenting further.

Kasabian had published a press release yesterday to announce Tom Meighan's "departure by mutual agreement" from the group, so that he "solves his personal problems which have affected his behavior for some time" and "concentrate all his energy to resume his life in hand ”.
