At an expert meeting of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare held on the 18th, data on the number of people in major downtown areas nationwide up to the 15th of this month was presented.

A subcommittee of the government has called for a 50% reduction in the number of people in Tokyo from before the declaration of emergency, but the number of people in Tokyo at night decreased by only about 35%.

This data was presented by the Tokyo Metropolitan Institute of Medical Research, Social Health Medicine Research Center at an expert meeting of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare on the 18th.

Based on the location information of mobile phones obtained in a form that does not identify individuals, the number of people who have stayed for 15 minutes or more outside of work or home is defined as the "resident population" of 500 in the major downtown areas of each municipality. It is analyzed hourly with a metric mesh.

This time, all the data analyzed up to the 15th of this month.

Data analysis of the state of emergency area

In Tokyo, we analyze based on data from seven downtown areas such as Shinjuku, Shibuya, and Roppongi.

In Tokyo, the number of newly infected people continued to increase rapidly, and the population staying at night decreased by 8.8% from the previous week, and the population staying during the day decreased by 8.6% from the previous week.

On the other hand, during the period from 10 pm to midnight, when the risk of infection is high, the resident population decreased significantly to 18.8% from the previous week.

In addition, a subcommittee of the government is calling for a 50% reduction in the number of people in Tokyo compared to the first half of July immediately before the declaration of emergency, but the population staying at night has decreased by 35.8% from before the declaration. The number of people staying in the daytime decreased by only 24.7% from before the declaration.

In Okinawa Prefecture, the number of people staying at night was below the minimum value declared in the state of emergency last spring in the previous week, but it has increased significantly again in Obon.

In addition, the number of people staying in the daytime has increased since Obon.

In Kanagawa Prefecture, the resident population decreased for three consecutive weeks both at night and during the day.

After the state of emergency was declared on the 2nd of this month, the population staying at 10 pm to midnight, which had been slow to decline, decreased significantly in the second week after the declaration, and the population staying at night was the fourth wave. It is below the minimum level.

In Chiba Prefecture, the population staying in Chiba Prefecture has been declining for two consecutive weeks both at night and during the day since the state of emergency was declared.

The nighttime population has almost reached the lowest level during the fourth wave.

In Saitama Prefecture, the population staying in the area has decreased for two consecutive weeks both at night and during the day since the state of emergency was declared.

The nighttime population has declined to near its lowest level during the fourth wave.

In Osaka Prefecture, the population staying in the daytime and the population staying from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm have decreased significantly since the state of emergency was declared.

On the other hand, the decline after 8 pm is limited, especially in the midnight hours, which means that it has not yet reached the lowest level during the 4th wave.
