This is a particularly horrific act because, in addition to causing death, the murderers then went after the victim's body.

A judicial investigation was opened and three people were indicted following the death of a man found scalped at his home in Goussainville in Val-d'Oise, we learned on Monday from the prosecutor's office in Pontoise.

Attacking the integrity of a corpse

"A judicial investigation was opened before an investigating judge on counts of murder and attacking the integrity of a corpse", indicated the prosecution, specifying that investigations were continuing to "determine the exact circumstances of the death".

On Wednesday, a 56-year-old man of Sri Lankan origin was found dead at his home, the victim of a scalpation.

The three suspects, also from Sri Lanka, are 53 years old for two of them and 48 years old for the youngest.

They have "no family relationship with the victim who hosted them for several years", according to the Pontoise prosecutor's office.

The investigation was entrusted to the Goussainville police station.
