Last week, security researcher Alon Gal stated that personal data such as mobile numbers, dates of birth, email addresses and location information have been leaked from 533 million Facebook accounts.
And this week, Cybernews reported that data from 500 million Linkedin profiles has been scraped and posted on hacker forums for sale.
According to a statement from Linkedin, this was not a data breach, but data being scraped from a number of websites and companies.
Information such as name, telephone number, e-mail address and workplace have thus been collected and indexed in a huge and advanced address book which is then bought and resold on the darker part of the network.
