The municipal drinking water is not polluted, but when it comes to properties in the area that do not have municipal water, there is a risk that the water contains PFAS.

Åre municipality has therefore this week gone out to test the drinking water on these properties.

The water samples are then sent directly to the laboratory for analysis.

PFAS is a collective name for approximately 4,700 highly fluorinated substances that are synthetically produced and that have been created to repel grease, dirt and water.

PFAS is found in a number of products and in, for example, fire foam, and is very difficult to clean up.

The substances are suspected to have several serious health effects.

It can take up to 14 days to receive a response to the water samples from Åre.

On the municipality's website, you will see a map of affected properties.
