The weather will be rainy and stormy this Thursday in the West and North, while the Lyon region will suffer an early heat wave, according to Météo-France forecasts.

Orange vigilance for the risk of thunderstorms, lifted early this Thursday, for sixteen departments in the west, has been restored for a dozen departments in the southwest due to a new rainstorm episode active at the end of the day.

This episode requires special vigilance because of the expected high accumulations.

In the course of the afternoon, thunderstorms will develop in the southwest of the country.

They will become numerous over the hours, occasionally giving very strong accumulations of rain (of the order of 50 to 80 millimeters in three hours).

They may be accompanied by hail, strong gusts of wind and sustained electrical activity.

The lull will occur in the middle of the night from Thursday to Friday.

Thunderstorms and a heatwave

Météo-France also draws attention to the possibility of strong thunderstorms in the north of the country with occasional hail, strong gusts of wind and high intensities of precipitation.

Thus, in the Center, Ile de France, Hauts de France, Grand-Est currently placed in yellow vigilance, for Météo-France, it will be necessary to be attentive to the situation.

A higher color level of vigilance may be required there.

The Rhône department remains placed on orange vigilance for heatwaves.

The episode is early for the season but not exceptional in duration and intensity, more marked in the Lyon metropolitan area, with minimums of around 20 ° C to 22 ° C and maximums of 32 ° C to 35 ° C .
