Several hundred people have thrown flares, fences and other blunt objects against the Mossos d'Esquadra in

Plaça Sant Jaume in Barcelona,

where a demonstration had been called through social networks against the measures approved to put a stop to the pandemic of COVID-19.

Between 400 and 500 people,

according to the Mossos d'Esquadra, have gathered in the square to express their rejection of the curfew and the measures agreed by both the Government and the Generalitat, which include

the perimeter confinement of Catalonia

for fifteen days and, in addition, of the municipalities during the weekends.

At the end of the demonstration, groups of people, many of them hooded and with their faces hidden, began to

launch flares and other pyrotechnic elements,

as well as fences and a multitude of blunt objects against the Mossos d'Esquadra.

Autonomous police sources have explained that

they have not carried out charges or dispersed the protesters,

but that they have repelled the aggressions of the protesters, and for this it has been found that the police had to use their batons.

Before starting these attacks, the concentration

was peaceful

and some people carried banners calling for the resignation of the Government and the Govern.

Other

banners

could read: "Spain 2009 - 150,000 flu deaths. 2020 - 35,000 covid. No more lies", "2019 Spain - 131 deaths from obesity. 2020 - 35,000 covid. Freedom".
