Dubai Electricity and Water Authority and the World Green Economy Organization will organize the eighth edition of the World Green Economy Summit on September 28 and 29, in conjunction with the Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX) and Dubai Solar Energy, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

The summit plays a fundamental role in supporting the UAE’s distinguished efforts in the field of climate action and its firm commitment to sustainability, its relentless support for energy and climate change issues, and the development of sustainable solutions to environmental challenges, which supports the UAE’s preparations to host the 28th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention, on Climate change (COP 28) at Expo City Dubai in November 2023.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority and Chairman of the World Green Economy Summit, Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, said: “The UAE is a global leader in supporting global efforts in the clean and renewable energy sector, through its strategies and investments in this field. The World Green Economy Summit seeks to transform climate action into opportunities for development and economic diversification, and focus on the economic benefits of accelerated climate action and the achievement of a green economy.

For his part, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, Suhail Al Mazrouei, said, “The UAE is one of the leading countries in the world in supporting the green economy system and international efforts in the clean energy sector. For the UAE to achieve climate neutrality by 2050, and the National Energy Strategy 2050. During a record period, the UAE was able to expand in the field of clean energy thanks to legislation and laws that kept pace with current developments and future challenges.”

For his part, the Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, the UAE’s Special Envoy for Climate Change, Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, said: “In line with the vision of the wise leadership to adopt a comprehensive and balanced approach to climate action, through a studied transformation in the energy sector, the World Green Economy Summit comes within the efforts We are prepared to host the 28th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28), which will be held in Dubai Expo City next year.”

For her part, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, Maryam bint Mohammed Al Muhairi, said: “For three continuous decades, the UAE has provided a pioneering global model in working for the environment and climate, and last October it set a new milestone in its path to climate action, by announcing the strategic initiative. To strive towards achieving climate neutrality in 2050, through an integrated system of cooperation, coordination and joint action among all sectors and components of society, and is currently preparing to host the COP28 Conference in 2023. Therefore, it is keen to strengthen and support all the ingredients and pillars whose role is to stimulate the pace of facing the challenge of climate change, One of the most important is the shift towards a green economy.
