The government launched the “Vigicrues” application on Monday to facilitate smartphone access to the official information system for monitoring rivers in France.

The application will give the alert in case of risk of flooding.

The tool also makes it possible to consult the state of the rivers and to subscribe to the newsletter, explains the Ministry of Ecological Transition in a press release.

Above all, it allows you to be notified by notifications, with the possibility of choosing your favorite sectors.

17.1 million French people exposed to floods

The application is currently only available on Android in a beta version.

A form is accessible to users who wish to comment on the tool.

The tool will then be rolled out more widely.

Vigicrues works according to a yellow, orange or red vigilance device depending on the level of potential danger of the floods.

"17.1 million inhabitants are exposed to the risk of flooding in France", recalls the ministry in its press release.

“[The application] informs you wherever you are, whether at work, at home or on vacation.

You are thus always warned of the risk of flooding and can adopt the right behaviour.
