“We have read these reports and are seeking clarity from the Turkish Foreign Ministry,” a US State Department official told RIA Novosti.

The embassies of Canada, France, Finland, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden and the United States have earlier called on Turkey to release Osman Kavala, a human rights activist and founder of the Anadolu Kültür AŞ cultural foundation.

After that, the Turkish Foreign Ministry summoned the ambassadors of these countries.

On October 23, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that he had instructed the Turkish Foreign Ministry to declare the diplomats of these states persona non grata.

Later it became known that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the republic had not yet taken appropriate official measures.
